The building business is always cyclical and as everyone knows housing, as an industry, has been off in the last couple years. Large subdivisions and production housing drives most of the national statistics. The higher end custom home building market in Tucson and surrounding areas has also seen a bit of a slow down over the last couple years, but recently appears to be on an uptrend. I know some of our best architects are busy designing new custom homes for their clients and my company has been approached several times in the past 2 months by people interested in building a custom home. Discerning customers who can’t find what they want in existing homes appear to have the resources to design, build and have their homes just the way they want them. Tucson is a wonderful place to live and will become more popular as the baby boom generation comes in to retirement.
