Expected Home Design Trends of 2018

With 2017 coming to a close in just a few short weeks, a lot of design trends are starting to fade as new design trends are starting to surface with the start of the new year.

If you are in the process of building a custom luxury home, consider incorporating some 2018 upcoming design trends.

More Warmth

Within the last couple of years, home design trends have heavily revolved around stark colors and clean lines. However, a return to color and comfort is being predicted for 2018.

The kitchen will be a focus of the “pop of color” concept when it comes to this new trend. Many kitchens in 2018 will consist of more personal touches and warm color palettes. You’ll likely see cabinets with striking tones, intricate hardware, and possibly still white tile to break the colors up. In fact, red and orange are expected to replace gray and brown.

This trend is expected to transition into the rest of the home too, with a big focus expected on ruby red accents.

More Casual

With 2018 bringing a lot of warmth back into the home, homes will likely appear more casual and comfortable. With minimalism trends expected to stick around for 2018, many bedrooms will be designed to appear soft and simple. With warmer neutrals as a focus of décor, such as browns and other organic tones, the overall look of many homes will likely be considered casual.

With cozy carpeting, plenty of seating space, and decorative wood paneling, homes should yet again appear lived in.

More Natural

If you’re in the process of building a home or planning to soon, consider focusing on using natural materials, a trend that is working towards a more eclectic aesthetic.

Many home accents are now made up of natural materials such as lava rock, which inevitably creates a natural space. Many large furniture pieces are being made with natural wood as well, or “exposed wood” which creates an especially warm, natural space.
